About this dashboard

The Johns Hopkins eSchool+ Initiative has created the eSchool+ Teacher and School Staff COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard to track vaccinations for teachers and school staff across the United States, District of Columbia, Bureau of Indian Education, and major US territories. The purpose of this dashboard is to capture real-time information about state vaccination plans for teachers and school staff. This information is intended to be of use for education and public health policy stakeholders and researchers, teachers, and school staff from across the country.

Our approach

We collect publicly available information from state and territory departments of education, health, state COVID-19 dedicated websites, and news sources. If alerted to any changes through a news report, we verify with a primary or at least one other secondary source. The dashboard is updated at least twice weekly. The most current information available from these sources at the time was extracted for this dashboard. Sources for these data are shown in the table.

Throughout the dashboard, we use the term “teacher” to encompass both teachers and school staff. Specific details about how each state defines educators, teachers, and school staff are also indicated by state.

The eSchool+ initiative is a cross-disciplinary collaboration between the Johns Hopkins Consortium for School-Based Health Solutions, Berman Institute of Bioethics, Center for Safe and Healthy Schools, Rales Center for the Integration of Health and Education, and the schools of Education, Medicine, and Public Health. It was formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to develop tools and resources for schools to think responsibly about caring for students during school closures and reopening. The initiative benefits from expertise in ethics, school health, school policy, food security, clinical medicine and education.
